Hou hou houuuuu!!!
The last week was awesome and I can't wait to share all my impressions with you so let's get started!
OK. I will skip Monday as this day was pretty normal and nothing extraordinary happened...
On Tuesday, I met my Local Coordinator and we talked about school in general and about my new host family. Ohh.... I forgot to tell you the latest news! Due to the fact that my current host family is going on holiday for two weeks, I have to move to another house in Peterborough and live with new hosts. I've already got to know them(not personally but I saw pictures and we wrote each other.) They seem to be nice and friendly and I am looking forward to meet them!
Many people asked me if I would go home over Christmas and why I am staying in England during such a "family-close"..don't know how to describe it.. time. I then thought about it and came to the conclusion that this is one of the most important events I want to experience in the UK!! I will never(certainly not often)have the chance to get an insight into another culture and to get to know all traditions, whether it be food , games or other habits. I will stay there from the 17th until the 31.December. The new family has (like my current family) 4 children-imagine-I had to buy 8 Christmas presents just for all of the children!!! But I've managed to accomplish the mission;-).
On Tuesday, I also had fitness.(every week from 6:30pm-7:30pm). Afterwards my muscles were set on fire and even continued to burn on the following day.
On Wednesday, I went shopping after school as I had to find shoes for an upcoming party. I felt released when I found a pair that suited me!
THURSDAY- the best day of the whole week!! As you may know from my former posts I am taking Drama as one of my four subjects. I have to admit that it is a great variety compared to the other subjects like Maths, English or History where you just have to sit on your chair, be silent and listen. In Drama you always have to be creative and active. I think that it is due to Drama, that I lost my uncertainty and got confident and conscious. Anyway, on that Thursday I attended a Drama trip. We went to London, where we did some shopping and then visited a play at the Gielgud Theatre, called:"The curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time". It was stunning how the actors represented the book!
Afterwards and now drum roll please........we went to WINTERWONDERLAND!! Lights, stands, rollercoaster, an ice rink, foood and and and... It was cold but I forgot the fact as soon as I ate a chocolate crêpe and drunk some tea. The trip was absolutely worth it!!!!
On Friday evening, I went to a concert of my host sister. She is playing the violin in an orchestra and does it very well!!
On Saturday, my host family and I went to a Christmas fair close to our town. It was lovely and I enjoyed spending time with them.
To round out my Christmas feelings, we bought a Christmas tree on Saturday. It is a very big one(for me, because I am used to smaller ones) and we immediately started to decorate the tree with loads of baubles, ribbons and fairy lights.Poor tree-I wouldn't want to be in its shoes!:-) Apropos baubles-everyone in school is laughing at me because I cannot pronounce booobooull or whatever properly...but when I asked them to pronounce the word: "Weihnachtskugel" they quickly got quite!:-)
Puhhh... It is exhausting to remember every detail of the week!! But thats good-I have to train my memory anyway!!
I suggest that maybe a lot of you are a bit stressed-out and demotivated as it is getting colder and colder and darker and darker...
But don't forget that soon it is going to be Chriiiisssttmaaas and a happy, relaxing atmosphere is expecting you(and a lot of delicious fooood), I keep it in brackets so that I don't annoy you too much with my constant chatter about groceries !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't freeze to death until I am back in Switzerland!!
EvelynXx
